Resistance Music : They Smear What They Fear
Posted on: 2009-11-13 04:05:51 (The media continues to attack the soundtrack for White revolution.) HIGHLAND HEIGHTS - The student newspaper at Northern Kentucky University has apologized after running an advertisement for a Web site selling white supremacist music. The advertisement for Resistance Records ran in two issues of the weekly paper before Editor Tim Owens learned what the Web site was selling. An apology appeared in the edition published Wednesday. "We received numerous complaints about the ad, and to those who were offended, I apologize," Owens wrote. "Please know that we did not intend to offend anyone, and will pay closer attention to the ads we run in the future." Resistance Records is an arm of the National Alliance, a white supremacist group, according to the Southern Poverty Law Center. The Web site was not working Wednesday. While the paper could have legally continued running the ad, canceling the ad was a matter of ethics, Owens said. "I made a decision that we don't want to be in business with or linked to or associated with groups of this nature, any group or ad that promotes any form of discrimination is not something that we want to be involved with," Owens said on Wednesday. |
