Spain says it has intercepted four boats carrying almost 250 people, invaders from West Africa trying to reach the Canary Islands within the last 24 hours.
They say two boats arrived at the islands of Tenerife and La Gomera on Saturday while on Friday two vessels reached Gran Canaria. Reports say that some of the invaders migrants were suffering from dehydration and twelve of them were taken to hospital.
Thousands of people from Africa try to reach Europe via Spain each year.
